Iranian Gunboats Skirmish with US Navy

Or so the story goes but, in this region of the world, anything involving these players usually comes with a really big subplot.

The story has five, very small Iranian gunboats making runs at three American warships, uttering threats and then breaking off at the last minute, just as the US Navy vessels were about to open fire. Clear provocation that, maybe not exactly an act of war but we're dealing with the US here and it has shown that it doesn't need an act of war to go to war, not hardly.

Being a single source account, we can't tell just who was the provocateur but it is fair to ask which side wants a shooting war. My guess would be the Cheney side, the malevolent, lying jackass who worked so hard to spin Iran into an existential threat to all humanity before getting the carpet ingloriously pulled out from under him by his own intelligence agencies a couple of months back.

Cheney sees the calendar leafing down as the days remaining to the Bush/Cheney regime flutter to an end. He'd like nothing better than to whack Iran while there's still time but he's got a lot of work to do to reconstruct a casus belli out of thin air. So what's a war hungry chickenhawk to do? How 'bout provocation? That somestimes work.

Cheney's choirboys in Israel wasted no time in joining the chorus. I'm sure it's just coincidence but Israel today announced it had recovered the remnants of a new type of Iranian-made rocket fired into Israel. What a conincidence! Iran's now picking a fight with the US and Israel. It's about time those two countries did something about it to defend themselves, wouldn't you say?

Pictured above is one of Iran's larger gunboats, the type that would be easy meat for any American warship.

easy meat? yes...but so would our troops with their newly acquired surface to surface missiles from Man of the Year Putin. I'm glad you agree that we should stop wasting time and start wasting the iranian (terrorist) Navy

Of course America should start wasting the Iranian (terrorist) Navy Dr. Mike. Shutting down the Persian Gulf for a few years would be a brilliant stunt. Imagine all the laughs you'll have as the American economy falls into a full-blown depression and you have to pay a wallet full of greenbacks for a coke bottle full of SUV juice. By the way, the Russian missiles are surface to air batteries. Iran's anti-ship missiles are the relatively modern Chinese Silkworm model.
