Clash of the Titans - U.S. Chamber of Commerce versus The Tea Party

The American Chamber of Commerce is rising up against the Tea Party, trying to break the extremists' hold on Congress.

Republicans are breaking.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the bedrock of traditional Republicanism, now says that it will get involved in Republican primaries by providing financial support to incumbent Republicans who vote to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling. In other words, if some Republicans act responsibly and then have to face tea party challengers accusing them of being RINOs, the Chamber will have the back of those reasonable Republicans. It's a civil war within the GOP, folks.

That's how far off the deep end the tea party and right-wing House Republicans have gone. They've lost the Chamber of Commerce. Heads must be exploding in the Bush family compound.

Mound, I think Tea-baggers' days are numbered. Many Republican congress men/women had it with the Tea-baggers. If this shutdown continues Repugs better watch out come 2014.

I have been waiting for Wall Street to realize the problems default could cause for the stock market. Since they have fed and watered the GOP ( and teabaggers) they must hesitate to admit fault.

How long before they swallow their collective pride and knife the Republicans in the back?

LD, it's hard to judge how extremists will behave. People like Cruz have the same instincts as Joe McCarthy. There's a whole contingent whose political careers are vested in this. Stepping down could be political seppuku.

Rumley, I expect the money club is soiling their dainties right now. They unleashed this monster only to find it gnawing at their limbs.

They have no way of knowing how close America is to the tipping point where the world turns to a new reserve currency and they have allowed America to become inordinately dependent on that luxury.
